About

The Kinesiology Association (KA) is the UK’s leading professional body for the advancement of Kinesiology.

We promote excellence, education, and integrity within the profession by accrediting schools, courses, and practitioners who meet the highest standards of training and ethical practice.

Our work supports both the public — by helping people find qualified, trusted Kinesiology practitioners — and professionals, by providing accreditation, community, and ongoing professional development.

As a registered charity, the KA is committed to raising awareness of Kinesiology as a recognised, evidence-informed approach to health and wellbeing across the UK.

The charity exists:

  1. To bring to the notice of the public the great value of Kinesiology.
  2. To provide professionally trained people in all branches of both orthodox and complementary health care, with the support of a Professional organisation, which promotes high standards of ethics, training and practice among those who use kinesiology.
  3. To maintain at the registered office a national register of professional practitioners so that members of the public may be assisted to find qualified help from reputable qualified Kinesiologists.
Nature of the Governing Document and constitution of the charity

The charity is a ‘Company Limited by Guarantee’ and ‘not having a share capital’ (i.e. non-profit making), governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association for a Charitable Company as amended in April 2011, and Bye laws and is registered under the Companies Acts 1985 and 1989. This is also called the Governing Document. This sets out the rules and regulations by which the Trustees have to abide.

Please download the document which outlines the ways a member of the KA is expected to conduct themselves. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the office for further clarification.

It is mandatory for KA members to adhere at all times to the Code of Ethics and Practice. If there is any doubt over any area please contact the Administrator for guidance.

The KA Code of Ethics and Practice was updated and published June 2020, a small revision was made in July 2022 adding COVID -19 as a notifiable disease.

Kinesiology is a recognised profession by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) is the UK’s voluntary regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners. Established by the government in 2008, the CNHC’s primary purpose is to protect the public by ensuring high standards of practice in the complementary healthcare sector.

The CNHC maintains an independent register of practitioners who meet stringent professional standards. Practitioners must demonstrate that they are professionally trained, fully insured, and committed to upholding the CNHC’s Code of Conduct, Ethics, and Performance. Registration with the CNHC is voluntary, but it signifies a practitioner’s commitment to maintaining the highest levels of professional conduct.

The CNHC also investigates complaints against registrants, enforcing disciplinary measures comparable to those used by statutory healthcare regulators. Additionally, the CNHC advocates for the integration of complementary healthcare into the UK’s health system, working with government bodies and other organisations to promote public access to these services.

The CNHC’s register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, ensuring its accountability to the UK Parliament. The CNHC currently registers practitioners from eighteen different complementary health professions, helping to ensure public confidence in the services provided by these practitioners.
